With reference to Your Lordship's

Confidential Despatch of the 14th. August, 1906, I have the

honour to inform you that Dr. Hunter's temporary engage-

-ment under this Government was extended for 3 years from

the 27th. of February last.

Dr. Hunter, as Your Lordship is

aware, is at present on leave of absence in England and

I shall be obliged if 3 months prior to the date when he

should leave England to return to Hongkong he may be

medically examined as to his fitness for further service

in this Colony, and that, if he is reported to be unfit

for such service, he may be given 3 months' notice of the

termination of his temporary engagement.
